Durian Cheesecake

Oh yes.

That’s right.

Durian Cheesecake.

Durian in a cheesecake.

Cheesecake in a durian.

Pure sin.

This should be banned.

Anyone who thought durian cheesecake would be too rich, too decadent considering the texture and tastes of both the ingredients.. You’re so wrong.

It was actually light, with a nice hint (okay fine it was more than a hint) of durian deliciousity and creamy goodness.

(KB adooooored it and that’s all that really matters!)

So here’s how it went.. I had that post on durian puffs right? I wrote on how I wanted to make durian cheesecake but KB was put off by that idea so I decided against it?

Well, apparently the fact that he said that, was part of my, quote, ” wild imagination”.

In fact KB seemed rather offended that I might have even THOUGHT that he would have said that. And so we marched along off to Carrefour and Cold Storage on Hari Raya Eve after a hard day’s work looking for the specific ingredients I needed. And might I add that I was marching with my 8-inch pair of heels. A real trooper that’s what I am.

After a little nap till 12am, I started workin’ it in the kitchen! I was making oreo tarts, brownies and durian cheesecake all at once because I was leaving the next day to Perth from Singapore and I know how much KB misses my food so I wanted to surprise him with all three on Hari Raya (that’s the Muslim festivities)! He probably thought I would only make one or only two on his wish list! (pfft.)

I had a great time baking, I started at the stroke of midnight and finished at 5 am..

By then he kitchen looked like as if I had a food fight with myself. My mum was not happy, to say the least. I spent the next two hours cleaning the crap out of it. After it was clean enough to eat off the floor I had break fast with the family, got dressed real pretty……..

…And I slept….

I just zonked out on my bed. Oh yes I did. For a good two hours before I went off to visit my grandma!  This time my dad wasn’t happy but I slept anyway! (Doesn’t my cake look cute peeking out of the oven like that?)

I took the cheesecake outta the oven after just an hour and it looked really glossy and vogue with my abstract art drawn over it!

Can you see it in all its glossiness?

It’s all gone now. In case, you’re wondering. Oh and by the way, I understand if you don’t feel as emotional as I do about durians. But if you are, which is highly unlikely, try this recipe now! Go get some durians, prep time is like half an hour or less if you’re really fast and don’t get into frequent kitchen accidents like I do.

Enjoy!
